The Return of the Intern

Blog by dewinter

dewinter truly believes in supporting grass roots talent.

Welcoming work based learning placements, guest lecturing at local universities, sponsoring and supporting the Young Chamber, offering internships and recruiting apprentices is our way of helping nurture and inspire the next generation of business leaders.

Over the past 30 years we have seen team members grow into flourishing designers, independent freelancers, award-winning agency owners, and we are so proud to be helping support such a strong, creative community.

Being able to offer the younger generations insight into agency life is so valuable for them to experience first hand the real world. Giving them the opportunity to use firsthand what they have been studying.

Many of the interns we have worked with have been so impressive, they return after studies and become fully-fledged employees of the company – some are now helping run the show! It’s mutually beneficial as they learn and experience our agency life and values whilst studying and the team gets to know and enjoy time with potential new recruits, pretty much a try before you buy scenario!

Please meet Alice, our latest intern who shares her story:

“Hi, I’m Alice and I’ve just finished a social media and design internship at dewinter! I came across dewinter after searching ‘Cheshire social media marketing agencies’ online for some design experience. dewinter caught my eye as a fun and vibrant agency with a range of clients and an exciting portfolio.

During my internship each day was different and tasks were varied so I was always kept busy! What is great about deWinter is that I was exposed to many creative areas and challenged to try different aspects within design.

For example, I worked on social media posts, branding, web designs, blogs and content design. This has broadened my knowledge and skills in a real-life company that I wouldn’t have gained just doing a degree.

As well as the work, I was surrounded by a lovely team who were always sociable and friendly. This created an open and relaxed working atmosphere where I could ask for guidance any time which made me comfortable at work.

I’m pleased dewinter are supporting local talent and providing opportunities for students because it’s difficult to find agencies that are willing to welcome beginners into the industry by taking a risk with someone who hasn’t had experience previously. It’s also great that Helen and Alex both started as interns before joining officially after their hard work had paid off.

I’m very grateful for the brilliant opportunity dewinter has given me, providing me with essential experience in the creative industry and giving me confidence for my future working life!

The internship allowed me to explore areas of design that I hadn’t previously touched upon at university and improved my technical ability massively. I felt like a valued member of the team: my ideas were discussed, I had my own responsibilities and independence and I was trusted with briefs, as well as having a laugh in between!

Thank you dewinter!”

Alice was a real asset to the team and is returning to dewinter in the summer for an extended work experience placement.
