Will Facebook’s new feature rocket to success?

Blog by Emily Kench

Through recent months, we’ve seen the merging and duplicating of many social media features but how level really is the playing field?

In the deWinter HQ, we’re big fans of the trusty Snapchat filter, highly value the communication of Twitter and thrive on the personal engagement of Facebook. We know that change can often be for the better so this week, we’re finding out what the ‘secret’ new rocket icon on Facebook is all about.

Are you the owner of an android or an iOS user? If so, you may have seen the small rocket ship appearing on your news feed and, much like Twitter, found that you now have a second News Feed which is much more tailored to your wants and interests.

TechCrunch quotes Facebook saying, “We are testing a complementary feed of popular articles, videos, and photos, customized for each person based on content that might be interesting to them. We’ve heard from people that they want an easy way to explore new content they haven’t connected with yet.”

Unsurprisingly and like many others, this new feature looks remarkably similar to Twitter’s moments but we’ll wait to see whether it rockets to success.
